I. Program Overview
In order to train global governance talents with a broad international perspective, superior comprehensive quality, outstanding leadership and multicultural background. China Scholarship Council implements the Youth of Excellence Scheme of China Program.
Nankai University supplies two following programs :
a. International Business Elite Training Program under the New Pattern of Globalization (International Business Major). This program does not distinguish research directions. Tuition: 30,000 RMB/year. Duration of Study: 2 years.
b. Global Elite Training Program in International Affairs and Public Policy (International Affairs and Public Policy Major). This direction belongs to the Political Science discipline, with a research focus on International Affairs and Public Policy. Tuition: 35,000 RMB/year. Duration of Study: 2 years.
II. Content
a. Supporting Candidates: Master students
b. Teaching language: English
c. Training approach and duration: The programs follow the "1+1" paradigm, which requires students to do their full-time basic course work and research at Nankai University in the first academic year while finishing up their dissertation preparations. Before traveling to China to defend their dissertations as required by Nankai University, they must work in their home countries during the second academic year and finish their dissertations based on studies and actual work. A degree will be awarded to those who successfully complete the defense.
d. Coverage: Full scholarship.
III. Application Requirements
1. An applicant must be a citizen of a country other than the People’s Republic of China, and be under the age of 45 in good health both mentally and physically.
2. An applicant must have a bachelor's degree or higher degree and at least three years of work experience. Those with professional training or work experience related to the proposed program will be given preference.
3. An applicant must fall into one of the following four categories:
a. A government official at the division chief level (or equivalent level) or above;
b. A senior manager of an institution or enterprise;
c. An administrator of a university or scientific research institution;
d. Those who have relevant employment or internship experience in international organizations.
4. The pre-admission letter given by the university must contain all of the necessary information of registration, such as personal information, the admission date and major's information. It cannot contain any information about having received or promised to receive Chinese government scholarships.
IV. Application Approach
(1) Register and fill out the relevant information on Nankai University’s International Student Service Platform:(https://nankai.at0086.cn/StuApplication/Login.aspx) before 10th March,2026 to get the pre-admission letter from Nankai University.
(2) Log on to the Chinese Government Scholarship System for online application (http:// studyinchina.csc.edu.cn/#/login) and submit application materials before 23:59 on 31st March , 2026 (GMT+8).
(3) When applying online, choose"Type A" for "Scholarship Type". The agency code is 1563, and applicants need to find"Youth of Excellence Scheme of China".
(4) Handling of applications.
(5) The China Scholarship Council accepts individual applications directly, and reviews the materials submitted by applicants then arranges expert review.
V. Application Documents
1. Chinese Government Scholarship Application Form (to be completed online);
2. Passport Home Page. A clear scanned copy of the applicant's ordinary passport home page. If the validity of the current passport is less than 12 months (calculated from the intended start date of studies), please apply for a new passport promptly and use the new passport for the scholarship application. Applicants who are unable to apply for a passport before submitting their application due to objective reasons may, with the permission of the accepting agency, submit valid identification or supporting documents containing information such as "Full Name in English, Gender, Nationality, Date of Birth";
3. Notarized Highest Academic Diploma/Certificate. If the applicant is currently a student, they must submit a Pre-graduation Certificate or Certificate of Enrollment issued by their current school;
4. Academic Transcripts. Transcripts in languages other than Chinese or English must be accompanied by a notarized translation in Chinese or English;
5. Language Proficiency Certificate. Applicants for Chinese-taught programs must provide a valid HSK score report meeting the corresponding Chinese proficiency requirements. Applicants for foreign language-taught programs should provide corresponding language proficiency certificates as required by the university, such as IELTS or TOEFL score reports;
6. Admission Documents. Applicants for master's or doctoral degree studies, or general and senior non-degree students, must provide admission documents issued by the applied university, which may include an Admission Notice, Pre-admission Notice, or Supervisor's Invitation Letter (admission documents will serve as one of the preferred documents for the Chinese Government Scholarship);
7. Study or Research Plan in China. (A minimum of 200 words for undergraduate applicants, 500 words for general non-degree students, and 1000 words for postgraduate applicants), written in Chinese or English;
8. Recommendation Letters. Applicants for master's degree studies must submit two recommendation letters from professors or associate professors, written in Chinese or English;
9. Personal Works. Applicants for majors such as Arts or Design should provide relevant personal work materials (e.g., videos, paintings, etc.);
10. Documents for Applicants Under 18. Applicants under the age of 18 must submit relevant legal documents of their statutory guardian in China;
11. Foreigner Physical Examination Form. Applicants planning to study in China for more than 6 months must submit a photocopy of the Foreigner Physical Examination Form (applicants should keep the original themselves). This form, uniformly printed by the Chinese health and quarantine authority, must be completed in English. The physical examination must cover all items listed. Incomplete forms, forms without the applicant's attached photograph or a stamped photograph crossing the corner, or forms without the signature and seal of the attending physician and the hospital are invalid. The examination results are valid for 6 months;
12. Non-criminal Record Certificate. Applicants must submit a valid Non-criminal Record Certificate issued by the local public security authority, typically issued within the 6 months preceding the application submission date.
VI. Assessment and enrollment
1. The application materials will undergo a preliminary examination by the China Scholarship Council.
2. China Scholarship Council will arrange a second examination by a panel of experts. The final enrollment results will be announced after expert review.
3. The final confirmation of the scholarship award is made by the China Scholarship Council (CSC).
*Candidates applying for this scholarship will not be recommended by our university as candidates for other Chinese Government Scholarship programs.
VII. Application Deadline
To get pre-admission letter from Nankai University, applicants should submit application to Nankai University before 10th March, 2026, and submit scholarship application to China Scholarship Council before 31st March, 2026.
