    Undergraduate Programs of Nankai University for International Students 2026



    Nankai University welcomes international students to its undergraduate programs through a unique "1+3" educational pathway. Students begin with a comprehensive foundation academic year at the School of International Education, then progress to three years of specialized study in their chosen major. Upon fulfilling all academic requirements, students receive a graduation certificate. All students in Chinese-taught programs must obtain HSK Level 6 with a minimum score of 180 before graduation.


    I. Eligibility Requirements

    1. Non-Chinese citizens with valid passport, in good physical and mental health, born before September 1, 2008.

    2. Hold a senior high school diploma with excellent academic performance.

    3. Chinese proficiency at HSK Level 4 (minimum score 180).

    4. Meet the requirements of Document No. 12 (2020) of Ministry of Education of the Peoples Republic of China.

    III. Programs

    Nankai University offers 41 undergraduate programs taught in Chinese, with duration of 4 years (5 years for medical programs). The admission process employs a dual preference system, applicants may select two programs in order of preference.     IV. Required Documents

    1. Passport information page (valid until at least Sep. 1st , 2027).

    2. Highest degree certificate (notarized copy with Chinese/English translation if applicable).

    3. Complete high school academic transcripts.

    4. CSCA examination score report.

    5. Personal statement (in Chinese or English).

    6. HSK Level 4 certificate (score ≥180).

    7. One recommendation letter.

    8. Supplementary materials demonstrating comprehensive abilities.

    9.Physical Examination Record for Foreigners (completed after November 2025).

    10.Proof of financial capability.

    11.Non-criminal record certificate.

    All documents must be in Chinese or English. Applications with incomplete documentation will not be processed.


    V. Application Procedure

    1. CSCA Examination Requirement: All applicants must take the China Scholastic Competency Assessment (CSCA), which evaluates students' academic readiness and core competencies. The test covers subjects corresponding to your intended major. Register early at (www.csca.cn) to ensure timely score submission.

    2. Complete online application through Nankai International Students Application System and upload all required documents (nankai.at0086.cn/StuApplication/Login.aspx).

    3. Review and Interview

    The university will review all application materials. Applicants who pass the preliminary document review will proceed to the interview stage. Specific interview dates will be notified separately. The interview primarily assesses the applicant's language proficiency and comprehensive competencies.

    4.Admission & Payment

    Admitted students (excluding pre-admitted Chinese Government Scholarship recipients) must log in to the application system within the specified period to pay the 400RMB application fee and full tuition amount.

    Upon confirmation of payment, the university will issue electronic versions of the Admission Notice and Visa Application for Study in China (JW201/202 Form) to admitted applicants in July.

    Please note:The application fee is non-refundable if students decline enrollment for personal reasons.

    If online payment is unavailable, tuition fees must be remitted to the designated bank account. The scanned copy of the bank receipt must be uploaded to the application system.Failure to complete tuition prepayment within the stipulated time frame will result in revocation of the admission offer.


    VI. Scholarship Programs

    1. Chinese Government Scholarship (Type A)

    Applicants should apply directly through the Chinese embassy or consulate in their home country and concurrently complete the Nankai University online application for international students. The application period generally runs from November to early February of the following year. Applicants are advised to confirm their pre-admission status with Nankai University before applying through Chinese diplomatic missions. Specific deadlines and requirements are subject to the announcements of respective embassies and consulates.

    2. International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship

    This scholarship is exclusively available to applicants for the International Chinese Language Education major. Applicants must complete both the Nankai University online application and the scholarship application at: https://cis.chinese.cn/account/login. Pre-admission to Nankai University is required. Outstanding applicants may receive a recommendation letter from the university to support their scholarship application.

    3. Tianjin Government Scholarship / Study-at-NKU Scholarship

    Prospective applicants for either the Tianjin Government Scholarship or the Study-at-NKU Scholarship should check the corresponding "Scholarship Application" option when completing the online application form. Funding Coverage: Includes tuition subsidies and other fees.

    Note: Only applicants who have received pre-admission status through Nankai University's international student review process are eligible for Tianjin Government Scholarship nomination. Scholarship levels are determined based on the applicant's interview performance and overall application quality.

    Application Deadline: May 30, 2026

    The scholarship programs are subject to the final decisions of Nankai University and the relevant scholarship authorities. The university reserves the right to adjust scholarship regulations according to actual circumstances in the current academic year.


    VII. Visa Application

    1. Admission Notice and Required Visa Documentation will be issued starting from July 2026.

    2. Enrollment: Admitted students must bring their ordinary passport, Admission Notice, Visa Application for Study in China (JW201/202 Form), and other required documents to the Chinese embassy or consulate in their home country to apply for an X1 visa. Within 30 days of arrival in China, students must convert their X1 visa into a student residence permit.

    Please note that specific dates and arrangements are subject to the instructions in the Admission Notice. During registration, the University will verify students' personal information and documents. Any violation of regulations or identification of fraudulent materials will result in immediate revocation of admission eligibility.


    VIII. Fees

    1. Application Fee: 400RMB (Pay at registration stage. Chinese Government Scholarship winners don't need to pay).

    2. Tuition: 20,000 to 35,000RMB/year. Please refer to the program catalog for specific rates.

    3. Accommodation: 1,000 to 3,000RMB/Month, varying by room type and campus.

    4. Medical Insurance: 800 RMB /year.

    In accordance with the regulations of the Ministry of Education, all international students must purchase Comprehensive Medical Insurance for Foreign Students in China throughout their period of study. Self-funded students must purchase this insurance independently before registration (http://www.lxbx.net).
