Teachers and students from the School of International Education and the College of Chinese Language and Culture of Nankai University visited the United States from April 22nd to 28th, 2024, to participate in the 31st International Seminar on Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language (TCFL) held at Princeton University.
At the conference, scholars from more than 20 US universities, including Harvard, Princeton, Stanford, and Yale, as well as Peking and Nankai universities, shared their latest research results. Wen Baoying, the Associate Dean of Nankai University, gave a report entitled “Research Methods of Prosody Acquisition” and had an in-depth exchange and discussion with the participating experts. In addition, at the roundtable meeting, Wen Baoying also introduced in detail the professional characteristics, advantages, and student training of the School of International Education and the College of Chinese Language and Culture of Nankai University.
During the visit, Wen discussed with Anna M. Shields, the Chair of the East Asia Department of Princeton University, and Professor Wang Jing, the head of the Chinese Program of Princeton University, the exchange and cooperation between the two sides, and visited Princeton University campus and East Asia Library. At the same time, the graduate students of Nankai University also observed the Chinese class at Princeton University. They had in-depth exchanges with the teachers and students of the university on classroom design, teaching practice, curriculum arrangement, and other issues.
The purpose of this visit is to enhance the academic exchanges and cooperation between Nankai University and Princeton University, provide an opportunity for teachers and students of the College to demonstrate educational achievements expand international horizons, and promote the discipline construction and global development of the college.
